Frequently Asked Questions

  • If you’re feeling overwhelmed, stuck, or disconnected—from yourself or your relationships—counselling can be a supportive place to explore what’s going on. You don’t need a specific diagnosis or a “big enough” reason to begin. Therapy is not just for emergencies or crisis situations. Many people come simply because they want to reflect, feel better, understand themselves more deeply, or navigate a challenging season of life.

You are welcome to book a free 20-minute consultation to get a better sense of whether or not it feels right, or, if you feel ready, you may schedule a full counselling session at any time.

  • Each session is different and tailored towards each unique client. The therapeutic process is collaborative, client-centered, and guided by your pace. The first session will be about getting to you and your story. From there, we might talk through current challenges, explore past experiences, give space to emotions or focus on helping your nervous system feel more regulated and grounded. My goal is to create a space where you feel safe, seen, understood, and supported—without pressure or judgment. I also want to leave you with something practical and tangible to help you integrate and apply any insights between sessions.

  • I support both individuals and couples navigating anxiety, trauma, relationship challenges, and life transitions. I also work with highly sensitive individuals (HSPs) and neurodivergent clients (ADHD, Autism), as well as those experiencing burnout, health challenges, self-doubt, or a lack of internal safety. Therapy can also be a space for personal growth, self-discovery, spiritual exploration and reconnecting with your authentic self.

  • I offer both in-person counselling in Vancouver, BC and virtual sessions for clients across select provinces in Canada. This gives you the flexibility to choose what feels most comfortable and accessible for you.

  • Counselling is not regulated in most provinces, which means I can legally work with clients no matter where they live.

I currently work with clients who live in the following unregulated jurisdictions:

    • British Columbia

    • Alberta

    • Saskatchewan

    • Manitoba

    • Newfoundland & Labrador

    • Yukon

    • Northwest Territories

    • Nunavut

I do not work with clients who live in provinces where counselling or psychotherapy is regulated by a provincial college. This includes:

    • Ontario

    • Québec

    • Nova Scotia

    • New Brunswick

    • Prince Edward Island

These provinces have their own licensing bodies and specific legal requirements for counsellors and psychotherapists. Because I am not registered with those provincial colleges, I am unable to work with clients who reside there.

  • Walk and talk therapy is a form of counselling that takes place outdoors rather than inside the office or home environment. Moving your body and being in nature can help regulate your nervous system, reduce stress, and make it easier to open up. It’s a great option if you find traditional office settings feel limiting or uncomfortable. Each walk and talk experience will be created just for you, reflecting your specific goals, interests and state of being at the time we meet. Sessions are typically held along the water in Coal Harbour or at Kitsilano Beach. If there’s somewhere you’d like to walk instead, don’t hesitate to ask!

  • Monday & Tuesday: 11am—7pm

    Wednesday: 9-5pm

    Thursday: 9am- 3pm

You can reach me via email or phone Monday- Friday, and I’ll always do my best to respond within 24 hours.

  • Home Within Counselling accepts credit card payments (Amex, Visa, Mastercard), cash or e-transfer.

Direct billing is available for select insurance providers through the Jane app online booking platform. Most extended health plans in BC cover sessions with a Registered Clinical Counsellor (RCC). Coverage varies between plans, so it’s always best to check with your provider. A detailed receipt will be provided after each session.

  • Yes! I’m able to offer a select number of lower-cost spots based on financial need, depending on availability. I believe counselling should be accessible, and cost should never be a barrier. For those whose finances are limited, I also recommend applying for subsidized coverage through the WIRTH Foundation: https://wirthfoundation.org/pages/apply-for-therapy

Check out the Free Mental Health Resources page for additional options.

  • I chose the name Home Within Counsellingbecause it reflects something I deeply believe in and continue to work on in my own life: that the sense of safety, acceptance, and belonging we’re often searching for outside of ourselves can be built within. Many of us have spent a long time feeling like we have to adjust who we are in order to be accepted or loved. Over time, we may have learned to look for security in relationships, in being liked, or in getting things “right.” This can create a sense of pressure, self-doubt, feelings of being “too much” or “not enough”, and ultimately a disconnection from who we really are.

To me, “home within” means feeling at ease in your own skin.Feeling safe enough to be yourself. And having a place inside you that you can return to, no matter what’s happening around you.

Our external world is largely a reflection of our inner state, so changing the relationship we have with ourselves ultimately changes the way we engage with the world and others.

My intention is to create a space where you don’t have to perform, explain, or filter yourself. A space where you can begin to notice and honour what you’re feeling in your body, your unique needs, what matters to you, and then start to trust that information.
